Bioinformatics Institute of New Zealand

The Bioinformatics Institute New Zealand, at the University of Auckland, and Biomatters have created ‘Version 2' of Geneious software for grid computing on BeSTGRID. BeSTGRID is short for Broadband enabled Science and Technology Grid running on the Kiwi Advanced Research & Education Network (KAREN). BeSTGRID and KAREN provide high-speed, high-capacity internet connectivity to New Zealand academics, researchers and educators. All applications developed under the project will be open source and freely available to researchers in New Zealand. Geneious is capable of running on virtual computing clusters as well as supercomputers. See www.bestgrid.org and www.karen.net.nz for more information.
